WRITING CONQUERED / Floriano Martins
The Last June was presented Writing conquered. Conversations with Latin American poets (editorial Foundation The Dog and the Frog, and the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture of Venezuela). The book (which was a first edition in 1998) in two volumes brings together over 50 authors from 20 different countries, generations, trends and styles.
"How, after such a statement in a book like this, keep thinking that the national poems are just that? The book however goes further and explores the poetics of the authors, as they think of poetry and the work of the poet in the world and in that open field parallels arise fertile and fruitful opposition. It ends with this, once and for all, to blur the distance while clearly delineates the outline of each poet, each tradition: the borders are converted to outlines ", asks and answers the Mexican writer Manuel Iris.
Among the writers who make up the dialogue include Gary Daher and Eduardo Mitre (Bolivia), Francisco Madariaga and Susan Giraudo (Argentina), Enrique Gómez-Correa and Pedro Lastra (Chile), Carlos and Javier Sologuren Germain Belli (Peru), many others.
Floriano Martins (Brazil, 1957), poet, essayist, translator and editor. has been dedicated in particular the study of American literature, especially in regard to poetry. From space in 2000 established the electronic journal Agulha currently -Hispanic Agulha - has tried to recognize in the multiple stage of contemporary culture, the most valuable individuals, illuminating the dark areas attributable to the Brazilian publishers.
